Dayton, Ohio- Domestic violence is a real issue that many of us don’t take seriously until it hits close to home. LaShonda Childs was just only 17-years-old when she was murdered Tuesday by, Trendell Goodwin, the 28-year-old man that she previously had a relationship with, but ended it due to abuse allegations.
Childs describes in a Friday, September 21 post how she doesn’t feel safe in her own home anymore because of Goodwin’s abuse towards her. Stalking her, biting her, throwing her clothes in the sewer, hiding out in abandon homes, putting a gun to her back and more.
Childs had a protection order against Goodwin, but he refused to be served with it. Goodwin followed Childs at a shopping center where she was shopping to prepare for her high school graduation. She would have been 18-years-old Friday, just days before her murder.
Upon being arrested, Goodwin was originally charged with felonious assault, but he now faces new charges of felony murder. He is currently being held in Montgomery County jail on a 1 million dollar bond.
