Why is everyone mad at Peele and not Allen?

Throughout this past week, there has been a lot of commotion about Jordan Peele stating, “I don’t see myself casting a white dude as the lead.”

A lot of White people were offended by Peele’s statement and were quick to say, “if a White person was to say anything like that. He’ll be a racist.”

But surprisingly, a White person had already said something very similar and no one jumped down his throat about it. Director, Woody Allen, a popular filmmaker among the White middle-aged crowd, was interview by, The New York Observer, in 2014 and asked if he will ever cast a Black person in one of his films.

Allen responded, “Not unless I write a story that requires it. You don’t hire people based on race. You hire people based on who is correct for the part. The implication is that I’m deliberately not hiring black actors, which is stupid. I cast only what’s right for the part. Race, friendship means nothing to me except who is right for the part.”

I could only find one article raising hell about Allen’s response, and that was with Indie Wire.
