Who is Bobby Bonilla and why are Mets fans wishing each other Happy Bobby Bonilla Day?

On Monday social media was flooded with an unofficial New York Mets Holiday, “Happy Bobby Bonilla Day.”

But who is Bobby Bonilla, right? Bonilla was a MLB player that last played for the Mets in 1999. While with the Mets, Bonilla negotiated a deferred payment that will pay him the amount of $1,193,248.20 every year on July 1st from 2011 to 2035.
