Amy Klobuchar cancels rally in home state after dozens protest her candidacy

Last Updated on

St. Louis Park, Minnesota – Sen. Amy Klobuchar returned home to her state of Minnesota after a disappointing loss during Sunday’s South Carolina primary.

Looking to secure the vote of her very own constituents, Klobuchar held a rally at St. Louis Park High School, but it was interrupted by participants who want Klobuchar to stop her presidential bid.

In 2002, Klobuchar handled the case of Myon Burrell, a Black teenager she prosecuted for murder in 2002 as the Hennepin County attorney; to do this day Burrell has continued to maintain his innocence. As protesters took over the stage shouting, “Black Lives Matter” and “Free Myon,” Klobuchar campaign management was forced to cancel the rally.
