Again, for those who still doubt that Black people and particularly #AfricansinChina are being targeted we feel it is our duty to share this. A sign at a @McDonalds restaurant seems to make this perfectly clear pic.twitter.com/FaveKrdQHi— Black Livity China (@BlackLivityCN) April 11, 2020
Guangzhou, Guangdong – After learning of a McDonald’s location in China banning Blacks from entering, the corporation took steps to temporarily close the location.
“Immediately upon learning of an unauthorized communication to our guests at a restaurant in Guangzhou, we immediately removed the communication and temporarily closed the restaurant.”
The city of Guangzhou is an industrial city that has many African residents. Upon online rumors that Blacks were responsible for the spread of the coronavirus, many took steps to prevent them from patronizing their businesses.
The BBC is reporting that McDonald’s will be administering diversity and inclusion training at the location.
