Atlanta, Georgia – Throughout the country there has been an increase of violence. While people are yelling “Black Lives Matter” and “Defund The Police.” No one is addressing the acts of violence that are happening within our very own communities.
Since the death of Rayshard Brooks, the city of Atlanta has been one of those cities that has experienced an increase in crime. Just within the past week, two children have been killed in two separate senseless and unprovoked acts of violence.
During the 4th July Weekend, there were 11 shootings, 31 people shot and five deaths. 8-year-old Secoriea Turner was one of the five people killed in Atlanta in separate incidents. Crossing over a makeshift barrier, gunmen opened fired on the family’s vehicle, killing Turner.
