Atlanta, Georgia – Former President Trump is calling on one of his biggest supporters to run for Georgia’s 2022 U.S. Senate race that will be defended by Reverend Raphael Warnock.
“Wouldn’t it be great if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?” Trump wrote in an official statement. “He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL. He is also a GREAT person. Run, Herschel, Run!”
Warnock won Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat against Kelly Loeffler after she was appointed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp when former Senator Johnny Isakson step down due to health reasons. Warnock is only fulfilling the remaining time of Isakson’s term and will have to run again in 2022 to be reelected for a full six-year term.
Walker is an outspoken critic of the Democratic party and a strong supporter of the Republican party. Warnock is credited for being one of the reasons that the state of Georgia had turned blue during the 2020 elections. By urging Walker to run for U.S. Senate against Warnock, it would help give the Republicans a chance to regain their U.S. Senate seat back by placing a well-known individual in the race.
Walker has played professional football for several NFL teams, but he is recognized as one of Georgia’s favorite sons. Born and raised in Georgia, Walker played for the University of Georgia at Athens.
