Sacramento, California – Now that Kamala Harris has vacated her seat in the United States Senate to become to the first woman to be the Vice-President of the United States. Governor Gavin Newsom has committed to place another Black woman in the seat of Senator Dianne Feinstein if she resigns.

Feinstein current term ends in 2024 and currently is the oldest sitting senator. She has recently been question if she can continue to serve because of memory problems. Feinstein’s spokesperson said in an email statement, “the senator has no plans to step down.”

Appearing as a guest on MSNBC’s, “The Reid Out,” Joy Ann Reed asked Governor Newsom, “If Dianne Feinstein were to retire, will you nominate an African American woman to restore the seat that Kamala Harris is no longer in the Senate? And do you have a name in mind?”

Governor Newsom responded, “We have multiple names in mind, the answer is yes.”
