While televised live, the winner of the 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant, Pushpika De Silva, has her crown snatched from the top of her head by Mrs World, Caroline Jurie. After being declared the winner, moments later it was believed that DeSilva lied that she was married. One of the requirements of the pageant is that all participating women must be married.
Jurie makes the announcement that a mistake has been made and declares the first runner up the official winner of Mrs. Sri Lanka. Jurie walks over and snatches the crown off of De Silva’s head. De Silva later filed a complaint on Jurie and was arrested.
Jurie was released on bail, and a press conference was held returning the crown back to De Silva as the pageants winner.
