Former NFL player involved in South Carolina murder-suicide

Rock Hill, South Carolina – Local authorities have identified former NFL player, Phillip Adams, 33, as the person responsible for the murder of five people Tuesday.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, an unnamed source told to the Associated Press that Adams later killed himself after midnight.

Adams is accused of murdering a prominent doctor, Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, and his wife, Barbara Lesslie, 69. The grandchildren of Lesslie were also murdered, Adah Lesslie, 9, and Noah Lesslie, 5. James Lewis, 38, was found shot to death outside, and a sixth person was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Adams was a sixth round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2010, but was later cut that same year due to injuries. Adams went on to play for other teams before his final season in 2015 with the Atlanta Falcons all while experiencing injury after injury.

Alonzo Adams, the father of Adams, blames football as the cause behind his son’s problems. Telling a Charlotte television station, WCNC-TV, “He didn’t talk much and he didn’t bother nobody.”
