Madea is returning again, but this time as a younger image herself. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tyler Perry has made a deal with Showtime to produce an hourlong series telling the stories of a young Madea.
A description of the series reads, “Long before she was the force of nature known as Madea, she was a smart, fierce, irresistible, dangerous, crazy 20-something black woman named Mabel Simmons. When she moved to Atlanta in 1972, she set the city — and the world — on fire,”
Serving as the shows executive producer, Perry will also receive EP assistance from Tim Palen, and JaNeika and JaSheika James, twin sisters and writers of Empire.
